Reuters (8/2, Hackethal)
reports a new study found that smokers who quit following a balloon angioplasty
live about two years longer than those who keep smoking. According to Ron van
Domburg, the senior author of the paper and a clinical epidemiologist at Rotterdam’s
Erasmus Medical Center, the message of the study is that quitting, no matter at
what age, can help. The findings were published in the American Journal of
Cardiology.
